The above data speaks for itself; needle stick injuries are a significant and dangerous issue. With over two million accidental needle stick incidents occurring worldwide every year[1], managing costs and ensuring workplace safety are paramount. It’s been proven that the use of needle safety accessories significantly reduces needle stick risk and further, lowers liability and costs to the employer(2).

The Needle Stick Safety and Prevention act of 2000 was established to protect workers. It not only requires employers to implement new technologies regarding safety accessories, it also allows for valuable input directly from the worker themselves. Just one needle stick can cost an employer thousands of dollar per occurrence with a median cost of nearly $750 per stick
[3]. Nearly half of all nurses sustain a needle stick injury annually, raising the cost for a typical hospital nursing staff to tens of thousands of dollars yearly. Notably, this number is delegated to nurses and does not include other medical professionals who may potentially be stuck with a needle, such as physicians, surgical techs, radiologic technologists and others.

NeedleGuard addresses all of these concerns and more. It’s been shown to reduce the risk of accidental needle sticks[4], and also increases efficiency and speed during procedures, particularly in surgical settings. It eliminates the need for multiple employees to hold a medical vial during procedures and directs the needle at NeedleGuard, not at the worker.

ABOUT

NeedleGuard

NeedleGuard was born out of necessity and created by Carlos Molina, MD, a board certified Radiologist and Mike Brang, a certified Radiologic Technologist. After being stuck by a needle on more than one occasion during interventional procedures, the two scoured the market to find something that would hold the vials while withdrawing medication. Unfortunately, there were only a couple of products available to combat this issue and the ones that were available did not address functionality properly, in their opinion.

So they decided to create something that could hold multiple vials of virtually any size at one time. Something that kept the vials inverted at the proper angle to maximize fluid extraction. Something that was loaded easily and didn't require manual labor to hold the vials steady. An accessory that could allow for the vials to be easily removed and even catch excess fluid that dripped from the vials themselves.

NeedleGuard was the answer to all of these concerns and more.

We created this product for nurses, surgical techs, radiology techs, pharmacists, paramedics and EMT’s, dentists, physicians, veterinarians and more. It not only significantly reduces the risk of accidentally being stuck by a needle, but it also eliminates the need for more than one person to hold a vial steady during withdrawal. It dramatically reduces company costs and liability while keeping workers safe.

Testimonials

Rick M, CST

“NeedleGuard has been a blessing. Working at a small mens clinic with a limited staff, NeedleGuard has allowed me to fly through my procedures. I no longer have to wait for a co-worker to hold a vial for me while I’m in a sterile field. We are now able to see 4-5 more patients per day! Not only that, but I haven’t been stuck once since I purchased these for my centers.”

Debbie S, RN

“I’ve worked as a nurse for over 10 years and have been accidentally stuck by needles numerous times. This device has helped me avoid needlesticks on a daily basis. We have also seen a significant drop in our documented needlesticks throughout the hospital. I’m surprised this wasn’t invented sooner!”

Jennifer B, RN

“Needsticks are an unfortunate inevitability. I’ve worked in the ER as a nurse for over 20 years and have been stuck on more than one occasion. After trying NeedleGuard I found it MUCH safer and easier to withdraw medications. The fact that you can load multiple vials up at one time is amazing!”
